Dear Gooding School District Community,

Last week, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued new guidance allowing federal immigration officers to enforce immigration laws near sensitive areas, including schools, which were previously considered off-limits. The Gooding School District recognizes that this change may be a concern for many in our community, and we want to assure you that we are aware of this policy update.

Please rest assured that the Gooding School District:

  • Remains committed to providing a safe and welcoming learning environment for all
  • Will continue to uphold the laws guaranteeing that ALL children in the United States have the right to a free and appropriate public education.
  • Does NOT collect or share information about the immigration status of our students or their families.
  • Encourages parents/guardians to ensure their contact and emergency information is accurate and up to date.
    • Emergency contacts can include family members or a trusted adult designated by the parent or guardian.
    • To update this information, please contact your child’s school secretary or log in to your PowerSchool account.
  • Will have counselors available at our schools to support students who may experience anxiety, stress, or fears related to changes in federal immigration enforcement

The Gooding School District remains steadfast in its commitment to providing an equitable and supportive learning environment for every student. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
